In the USA, an unsigned, first edition copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone has been sold for a $81.250 or £61.186. This is more than 5000 times the original £10.99 that would have been paid for the book. This is a new world record for an unsigned work of fiction.
This novel was one of the 500 first editions of this particular novel that had been published by Bloomsbury in 1997.
It was kept in pristine condition by a private UK collector, and now sold in Dallas by the Rare Book specialists Heritage Auctions.
There are only 500 copies of this edition in existance of which 300 have gone into lending libraries.

3. The Print line on the page must read ” 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1″
4. Check on page 53. The words “1 Wand” are listed twice on a list of required school supplies Harry must take with him. This mistake was corrected in later print runs.
